Bobby Valentino "Special Occasion" Album Review

3-1/2 stars -- Just in time for the holidays!
Bobby Valentino appears to be one of the only members of DTP who DIDN'T have some kind of a feud with Ludacris. And while his self-titled album was well-received, I'm not sure it sold all that well. His follow-up, Special Occasion, isn't quite as memorable, but it's still good.

This is one of those albums that's pretty split: the first half of the album has mainly uptempo tracks, while the second half has mainly ballads. But the fast tracks are the issue: while they'll easily bump in the club, Bobby's voice isn't quite as good on them. "Checkin' for Me" and the obligatory Ludacris collabo "Rearview (Ridin')" aren't bad, but they aren't necessarily anything to run and tell a friend about either. "Over & Over" is skippable, and the Timbaland-produced "Anonymous" is lame.

Thankfully, Bobby scores better with slow songs. "I Was Wrong" instantly stands out, and his cover of Babyface's "Soon As I Get Home" is excellent. And while I normally think that using a segment of a later song as the intro is unnecessary, it actually works out well in the case of "Home Is Where You Belong", especially because the song might seem a little corny otherwise (although the outro to that song starts to get a little metaphorically challenged).

But one song that is hard to relate to is "If I Had My Way", which talks about Bobby and another girl leaving their current relationships to be with each other. This album from Bobby V. isn't classic material, but it's still solid R&B, so you really should have no trouble celebrating this special occasion.

Boyz II Men "The Remedy" Album Review

Definetly the Remedy for ailing music scene
Last CD i got was the Throwback CD, which i thought was cool, combining their classic voices on classic tracks, it was a nice blend, no group today on the scene can compete with these guys, NONE.

They are classic and timeless because of the quality and integrity that they bring with their talent. The harmonies are flawless. Plue they respect women, the love songs are intimate and respectful with taste and tact, not like these lil pups humpin on your leg.

Okay REMEDY: I like 11 of the thirteen songs, i didn't like "Gonna Have" I thought the lyrics and topic were lame. And i didn't like "Here I come" i feel they killed the classic tact full way of doing a love song, it isn't even comparable to "I'll make love to you", on "Here I come" they talkin bout showin the girl his "OH FACE" when climaxing at his peak, total deviation and wackness on just TWO SONGS. The rest of the album the reinstated their masterfullness.

I am not disappointed with this album by any means. If you like even any of their past music then get this one and get reaquainted.

I heard they doing a partnership with Donald Trump to build a casino in Philly and they gonna handle the entertainment side, i think that is dope, ain't nobody get down like BIIM been a fan since 94 and better yet discovered them while in my first relationship, the harmonies made a slave of my heart, i wish them the best. I could care less if they reclaimed past glory, cause really the NEVER lost it, the PUBLIC just shifted the view, the industry is fickle and as you can see these days its now very brittle, i'm glad the boyz are back.

peace
Brian
